Who we are

Dead Pixel Testing (deadpixeltesting.com) is a free online dead pixel test, screen uniformity checker and stuck pixel repair tool. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the operator of Dead Pixel Testing, which is responsible for the personal data described here.

What happens in your browser

All of the screen tests, including the dead pixel test, Stuck Pixel Reviver and Fixer, backlight bleed test, OLED burn-in test and the Display info panel, run locally on your device. The display details we show (screen resolution, device pixel ratio, estimated refresh rate, color depth and similar) are read and calculated in your browser, and the tool does not send them anywhere.

To remember your preferences between visits, the site saves a few small values in your browser's local and session storage. These are not cookies, are never sent to us or anyone else, and you can remove them at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Google Analytics (only with your consent)

If you click Accept on the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how many people visit and which tools they use. This helps us decide what to improve. Our legal basis is your consent. Google Analytics' advertising features are switched off, so analytics data is not used for ads.

When enabled, Google Analytics collects standard usage information such as:

• pages viewed, time on page and basic interactions such as clicks and scrolling;
• device type, operating system, browser, language and screen resolution;
• the website that referred you and an approximate location (country or city) derived from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses;
• a random identifier stored in the cookies below, used to recognise repeat visits.

Analytics data is kept in Google Analytics for the retention period set in our account, and never longer than 14 months. Google may process this data in the United States and other countries; Google participates in the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and uses Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers. If you click Decline, the Google Analytics code is not loaded at all and no analytics cookies are set.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

To keep Dead Pixel Testing free, the site may show ads served by Google AdSense. Ads are provided by Google and its advertising partners, not chosen by us individually.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.

Advertising cookies, such as Google's __gads, __gpi and IDE cookies, store a random identifier and information about the ads you have seen, and usually expire within 13 months. Ad partners may also receive standard technical data such as your IP address, device and browser type, and the page you are viewing, in order to show, measure and limit ads and to prevent fraud.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, we will ask for your consent through a Google-certified consent message before ads that use cookies for personalization are shown. If you do not consent, Google may still show non-personalized ads, which are based on general context such as the page's topic and your approximate location rather than your browsing history, and may use cookies only for purposes such as frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fraud prevention. Hosting and security

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser user agent and the pages requested in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies to tell people and bots apart. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Sharing and selling

We do not sell or rent personal data that identifies you, such as names or email addresses; we do not collect it in the first place. The third parties that process data for the site are Google (analytics, only with your consent, and advertising) and Cloudflare (hosting), as described above.

Some US state privacy laws treat allowing ad partners to collect data through cookies for targeted advertising as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. You can opt out of this at any time using the options in Advertising, or by blocking third-party cookies in your browser.

Your rights and choices

• Withdraw consent at any time with Cookie settings. Declining stops analytics and deletes the Google Analytics cookies from your browser.
• Opt out of personalized ads with Google's Ad Settings or the industry opt-out pages listed under Advertising.
• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
• Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to its processing, and to data portability. We do not collect names, email addresses or accounts, and analytics and advertising data is pseudonymous, so we generally cannot link any data to you. Requests about advertising data can also be made directly to Google through your Google account. Declining analytics and clearing your cookies removes the identifier that connects your visits.
• You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority in your country.

Children

Dead Pixel Testing is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the effective date at the top. Significant changes, such as adding a new analytics or advertising provider, will be reflected in the cookie banner before they take effect.
